US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Costa Rica

In her second visit to Latin America since serving as US Secretary of State, Secretary Clinton traveled to Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Costa Rica and Guatemala from February 28 - March 5, 2010.
During her visit to Costa Rica, Secretary Clinton was the keynote speaker at the Pathways to Prosperity Ministerial where dignitaries from Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, United States and Uruguay gathered together to discuss ways to open markets and promote inclusive growth, prosperity and social justice. In her closing remarks, Secretary Clinton highlighted, “I was reminded again that wherever we live in the Americas, whatever our heritage, whatever language we speak, we all want the same thing: the chance to live safe and healthy lives; to see our families productive and moving toward a better future; to participate fully in our communities; and to do all that we can to extend those opportunities to others.”
While in Costa Rica, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also had the opportunity to meet with President Arias, President-elect Laura Chinchilla, visit with women entrepreneurs, participate in a joint press conference and meet with Embassy staff and their families.
