From July 27th to July 30th, U.S. Ambassador Peter Cianchette and Minister of Public Security Janina Del Vecchio; as well as other representatives from the U.S. Embassy and the ministry, are visiting the Southern Command and the Joint Inter Agencies Tasks Forces’ headquarters, in Miami.
The purpose of the visits is to discuss issues related to the established bilateral maritime agreement, the joint patrolling that both countries are involved in, the recently approved Merida Initiative, and to discuss projects, needs and solutions as well as problems of mutual interest.
According to Ambassador Cianchette, this is an opportunity to learn about the different scopes of work of the U.S. Southern Command and will establish new possibilities for cooperation that will benefit both countries. |
